The Pipe Jacking Machine (Microtunneling) Operator Professional Training Programme was officially inaugurated during Karnival TVET 2025 in collaboration with ADTEC JTM Pedas, thereby advancing the systematic development of Malaysia’s underground trenchless engineering sector.

We raised awareness of the professional standards and career opportunities in the trenchless engineering field by presenting the operating principles, equipment structure, and actual working environments of pipe jacking machines to students and the public at the event. The response was exceedingly optimistic.

This initiative is more than just the introduction of a course; it is a substantial stride toward industry alignment and professionalization. The program combines practical industry experience with TVET educational resources to provide a comprehensive pathway from theoretical foundation to hands-on practical training. It covers key modules such as equipment structure, construction workflow, safety standards, risk management, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting.

The program has formally commenced, systematically enhancing the capabilities of operators and technical personnel to make independent operational and on-site decisions through the use of real-condition simulation training and standardized curriculum design.

In addition to enhancing skills, the objective of this collaboration is to establish a robust local talent pipeline, thereby improving Malaysia’s technical capability and competitiveness in the field of Trenchless Technology and progressively decreasing its dependence on foreign operators.

Parallel to the industry certification framework, the Train-The-Trainer (TTT) mechanism, and internship-to-employment pathways are currently being implemented.
